Wall Street Journal – California Cuisine for Techies

Tucked inside a Marriott hotel and nestled amid some technology campuses in San Jose and Santa Clara, California-cuisine restaurant Parcel 104 caters to techies from nearby companies like Cisco Systems Inc. and Intel Corp.

The crowd largely has a management feel, with black slacks and dress shirts as standard attire and guests carrying company ID tags attached to belts.

The menu changes daily, though signature dishes like the skirt steak with fingerling potatoes and broccolini stay on more often. There’s also a three-course express lunch for $22, which is designed to get diners out the door in 35 minutes.

There are three private dining rooms with big-screen televisions and projectors to accommodate presentations — a must in Silicon Valley, said Nasser Mobarak, Parcel 104’s director of food and beverage.

The restaurant was remodeled in September; one result is a bar area with a fireplace, lounge chairs and tables. Mr. Mobarak started offering $1 beers and $4 appetizers five evenings a week around the same time.

Parcel 104 is at 2700 Mission College Blvd. in Santa Clara. It serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Directions |   Hours
